Update as of 3-21-20

Tax Deadline Extended to July 15th. All income tax returns due on April 15th have now been automatically extended by the US Treasury Department to July 15th. We are still working to complete tax returns as quickly as possible. Please be patient as we adjust to over half our staff working remotely.

2019 Final Tax Payments & 2020 Quarterly Estimated Payments Due July 15th – All taxpayers can defer federal income tax payments due on April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 without penalties and interest regardless of the amount owed. The time period from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020, “will be disregarded in the calculation,” of any interests and penalties related to Federal income tax payments. Notice 2020-18.

Scam emails – If you receive a suspicious email regarding tax rebates, please forward to us to review and do not open any attachments or website links. You should never receive an unsolicited email from the IRS or the US Treasury Department.

Dear Clients and Friends:

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread in the U.S. and across the world, our priority is the safety and well-being of our people, clients, families, and community. We are monitoring daily updates and recommendations from the CDC. Additionally, we are minimizing the impact that COVID-19 could have on our services and are staying abreast of all filing deadline adjustments. We have employed the safeguards below to ensure the health and well-being of our people as well as our clients and friends who visit our offices. These safeguards should also allow us to continue to meet our clients’ accounting-related deadlines.

  • We have the technological, cultural and operational infrastructure to work remotely as needed.
  • We can continue to meet with our clients by phone and are working on other remote communication options.
  • We have large digital file transmitting capabilities, online portals, and access to courier services and will work with clients on an individual basis to ensure that the delivery of files is safe and efficient. If such assistance is needed, please contact us for the best delivery option. If you have the ability, you can send tax information to us using this link Secure File Exchange. The link will offer you the option of sending a secure email to someone in our office or to set-up a portal account. If you are sending multiple documents, we recommend creating an account. We can also send files back to you through the portal if you set-up an account.
  • If visiting our office, rest assured that our high traffic areas receive additional detailed cleaning. Moreover, our people are following the recommended hand-washing regimen and have been provided hand sanitizer throughout our office space.
  • The IRS has set-up a website in order to provide tax-related updates – https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus. We will also provide updates on our website as they become available. At this time, April 15th is still the official deadline for individual and trust tax returns which have not already been filed.

As your trusted advisors, we will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation and will modify our plan as necessary to ensure we can serve our clients to the best of our abilities. Please contact us at (512) 472-2464 if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Roy Kiecke
